Chuck's latest opus

This painting of Taylor Canyon won the People's Choice award at this month's art guild meeting. I am so proud and Chuck is thrilled. He is planning on painting a larger version and submitting it to the Art in the Park competition. This competition features art depicting scenes from our national parks.

What's new?

It's that time of year again, when things get so busy. I love the holidays, but sometimes I feel rushed and out of breath. Perhaps once I finish up the Christmas shopping and decorating, I can relax with a cup of hot cocoa and contemplate my many blessings.

Along with the holidays, there is the big dance show in January to keep me on my toes, so to speak. I will be dancing in five dances this year and fortunately, most of the costumes are already made, or are being purchased, or ones I have used before. But there are dances to learn and perfect (to the extent of my abilities) and rehearsals to fit into my schedule.

To help me keep sane and have more energy, I have taken up swimming. I have always loved playing in the water but have never been much of an actual swimmer. It kind of surprised me that I love it. This week I swam three miles. It takes me about 45 mintues to go one. It's such a great workout and I love the feeling of slicing through the crystal clear water.

I'm wondering if anyone reads this blog. It would please me silly if you would post a comment. It gets lonely in here.

Halloween!

The trick-or-treaters were scarce this year even though the weather was perfect. We had our own fun though. Kelsey, Brent, Charis, and their friend, Melissa came over to escort Charis on her first trick or treat adventure. They visited some of our neighbors. When they got back, we dined on fajitas, charro beans, and guacamole, and for dessert, Kelsey's pecan pie. We had six jack-o-lanterns decorating the front porch. Charis dressed up as a pink princess/ballerina, Melissa was Queen Amidala, and Kelsey was the Midnight Fairy.
